SOPHIE'S CHOICE

Sophie is the Nazi concentration camp survivor who found a reason to live with Nathan, a sparkling, if insecure, American Jew obsessed with the Holocaust. Stingo, a young writer, moved to Brooklyn in 1947 to work on his first novel. When he befriends Sophie and her lover Nathan, he learns that she is a Holocaust survivor. Flashbacks reveal their harrowing history, from prewar prosperity to Auschwitz. In the present, the relationship between Sophie and Nathan increasingly dissolves, while Stingo gets closer and closer to Sophie and Nathan's fragile state of mind.
